Users can soon get WhatsApp message response on the desktop version of the app.

WhatsApp message responses are familiar to users as they are already available on platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

WhatsApp is adding search shortcuts to the redesigned contact info page.

Some users may also see the same shortcut in Group Info.

Unfortunately, the search shortcut is not working so well: it happens that, even if this feature is enabled correctly in your WhatsApp account, it may not appear in some situations.

Since this is a beta version, such things can happen, but the next beta update will definitely fix the problem.

This feature is available to some beta testers today, so be sure to update to beta version 2.22.6.3 on the Google Play Store.

WhatsApp has recently been seen working on a new search message shortcut and traces of WhatsApp’s message reaction feature have also been seen again on the WhatsApp desktop beta.

The message response feature will allow users to assign an emoji as a ‘reaction’ to a message.

This feature is already known to users through Facebook and Instagram.

This will allow users to assign an emoji as a ‘response’ to a message.

The application’s feature tracker website WABetaInfo first released the details of the beta-WhatsApp message responses for WhatsApp Desktop.

According to the platform, the meta-owned application is working on the feature, which is not available to beta testers as it is still under development.

A similar update surfaced in August 2022, stating that WhatsApp has reportedly been developing the feature for Android and iOS for months, and glimpses of the feature had also surfaced online.

Screenshot released by WABetaInfo shows the message response button next to a message in a chat using the emoji icon on the WhatsApp desktop beta.

The button can appear only when the cursor is moved over the message.

When clicked, it will display a row of six emoji, which can be selected to respond to the message.

The screenshot shows thumbs up, red heart, face with tears of joy, shocked face, crying face and folded hands emoji as reaction icons.

In another development, WhatsApp is working on a provision to edit the recipients of status updates.

This feature will enable users to specify the audience for each status update.

Earlier, WhatsApp was seen working on an update to the caption bar so that users can choose an alternate recipient for the picture or video in a WhatsApp chat or publish it as a status update.

According to the feature tracker, the messaging service is currently working on upgrading the ability to share images as status with a new privacy shortcut.

Users who click on a picture and then hit the status button in a WhatsApp conversation can view and select the audience for that status before posting it.

Recipients are classified as ‘My contacts’, ‘except My contacts’ and ‘Only share with’.

Users will have to wait for the beta release of both the features to know more.

WhatsApp has not officially indicated on his arrival.
