How To Earn Money From Blog With Little Traffic

Share on:

I’ve been blogging for about a year now and I’m not making much money from it 😥

How much could you make from blogging if your blog gets little traffic?

This is a common question asked by many people who are new to the concept of blogging. The answer usually given is, “It depends”.

It really depends on what type of blog you run, how often you blog and what monetization strategies you use to supplement any revenue that may come in.

But before we even get into that let’s understand what blogging is all about and its advantages.

A blog can be defined as an online publication which contains ideas, comments or other information in the form of posts published by multiple authors through different mediums such as static pages or social media.

How To Earn Money From Blog With Little Traffic

Blogging is an extremely powerful tool when it comes to online marketing because it has the ability to help build links, increase traffic and improve brand awareness for your business.

People usually use blogs in order to express their views on a particular topic or simply serve as a company’s digital brochure that acts as a showcase of its products/services/brands.

It is also known as one of the cheapest form of marketing available today due to the fact that you can do it yourself without having to hire anyone else unlike other traditional forms of marketing which require significant human resource investment, time and money.

If done right, blogging can yield tremendous results but before you sit down and start writing your first blog post you need to properly understand the blogging industry and how it works.

There are roughly three types of bloggers out there on the Internet:

1) Hobby bloggers

These are people who like to blog for fun and don’t put much effort into their blogs.

Such people might work a day job while starting a hobby blog in their spare time, if they manage to make some money from it then that is great but that’s not what they’re looking for in the first place.

2) Semi-Pro Bloggers

This group of people makes money by blogging and may even do this as an occupation or secondary income source even though they have full time jobs which takes up most of their time.

They

may generate income through selling ad on their websites, selling their own products/services or through affiliate marketing.

3) Professional Bloggers

These are people who have created a career out blogging because they rely on blogging as their only source of income and this is done by following all the rules put in place by Google.

They work day and night to meet strict deadlines, generate valuable content, build backlinks for themselves and most importantly make money from it.

Now that you understand what types of bloggers there are lets talk about how much money you could make if your blog gets little traffic.

The answer to this question mostly depends on what type of blogger you are but since most people reading this will be hobby bloggers I’ll use them as an example.

Some ways through which part-time bloggers can monetize their blogs are:

1. Selling ad space on your blog

You could start with small-scale ads like text links but the best way would be to go for affiliate marketing which means that you get paid when someone clicks on an ad from your page and then goes ahead to purchase any of the products/services listed on that page.

2. Monetize your site using Adsense

This is one of the easiest ways through which you can make some money from a little traffic as all you need to do is place Google’s code on a relevant page on your blog and wait for money to flow in.

But one thing I’ve learned about this type of monetization strategies is that it only works if you have millions of page views every month.

3. Selling your own products/services

This might be my favorite way because you are not limited to any restrictions when it comes to selling your blog based on traffic or the number of blog posts published under you, you can make money through anything!

For example if you have a popular YouTube channel, sell ad space on the videos, do affiliate marketing on those videos and earn money from YouTube Red at the same time.

When I wrote this article it was meant for people who are just starting out but now that I’ve come to think about it there is really no limit as to how much money anyone can make with blogging if they work hard enough for it.
